Stretcher systems have clear limits
For some years now, there has been a rapid increase in the number of extremely heavy patients in pre-hospital and clinical patient transport. The ambulance stretchers, vehicles and stretcher tables that have been used up to now can only rarely cope with the enormous loads. The safe carrying of vital medical equipment on a large scale, according to the current state of intensive care medicine, has become almost impossible.
The intensive care transport teams are increasingly overburdened and many transports are enormously complex in organisational terms - a compromise between medical necessity, personnel and technical feasibility, and also human reasonableness.
The few heavy-duty stretchers available on the market so far usually offer only partial solutions to the current problems in intensive care transport, in addition to somewhat wider patient supports, a higher load capacity and technically supporting lifting and lowering functions of the stretcher system. Due to narrow track widths and the resulting risk of tipping over, some competitor products may only be moved in a lowered, maximum low position. Medical equipment can often only be carried on intensive care transport to a limited extent, and not optimally integrated into the transport system. It is not uncommon for heavy equipment to be loaded on leg bridges or on poles without thinking about the possible risks and dangers of the construction.

The Heavystar is not a modified ambulance or heavy-duty stretcher, but a bed-like autonomous transporter for interhospital transfer and intra-hospital use.
This innovative, unique and flexible system provides the user with completely new possibilities.
User-friendly, comprehensive and safe device integration
The Heavystar allows the integration of a variety of different medical devices in different positions - removable, rotatable or fixed.
All device holders are equipped with quick-release fasteners for easy loading or removal.
New device integrations are possible at any time and always guarantee the highest level of technology in the future.
I pack my Heavystar and take with me:
Intensive care respirator, humidifier, monitor, defi, syringe pumps, suction pumps, ECMO, IABP, NO-A, heart pump, ultrasound, blood analyser, O2, Air, NO and a 230V distribution system - all at the same time in one transport system - and you don't have to dismantle any of it for a patient transfer!
The complete equipment remains safely and securely on the transporter even during the journey.
At the push of a button
The Heavystar has electric drives for the height adjustment as well as the upper body and thigh support. The lower leg segment can be easily adjusted manually by means of gas pressure damper support.
All common types of positioning, up to cardiac bed positioning, are thus possible.
Even very heavy patients can be brought into the desired position simply at the touch of a button, in a safe and personnel-friendly way.
The human being grows inexorably
The lying comfort has an influence on the patient's need for medication during transport. Obese patients also require a significantly wider lying surface.
Two important reasons that we have dealt with intensively.
Therefore, the Heavystar was equipped with a comfortable bed which, with dimensions of 2072 mm x 850 mm, offers more than enough space. Foam wedges on the lying surface also allow for optimised patient positioning.
Despite the dimensions of the Heavystar, there is still enough space in the vehicle to be able to work adequately on the patient.
If required, a longer pelvic belt with belt buckle is available, which can be easily changed within 30 seconds if the patient makes this necessary.
The special, innovative bed design with a cut-out in the lower leg area is patented.
Load capacity
With a permissible total weight of 600 kg, the Heavystar allows a load of 400 kg patient + technology/medical equipment.
I like to move
The Heavystar is incredibly easy to handle and move safely - even by a single person if necessary. Simple, reliable mechanics and high-quality components always guarantee safe operation of the complete transporter.
Special 200 mm heavy-duty wheels and a pedal rocker for the parking brake and directional stability functions support easy handling.

Tail lift
A sufficiently large tail lift with a corresponding lifting capacity is necessary for comfortable and safe loading and unloading of the Heavystar.
Floor lock
A specially developed and tested five-point floor mount with wall release, retarder and automatic locking provides secure fixation in the vehicle.
A drilling template and mounting information will be gladly provided to your ambulance vehicle manufacturer for exact mounting.
More than EN 1789 provides for
The Heavystar was successfully tested with over 11g. In the process, the patient replacement mass tugged on the straps and bed with over 3.6 t without any problems.
This is made possible by the unique construction of dynamic assemblies, shock-absorbing elements and a floor locking system which ensures that the wheels remain functional even after a crash.

Two different CFRP monitor arms are available for the Heavystar.
Both variants are extremely stable, light and enable the secure mounting of different monitor mounts.
The short version is mainly used in the clinical area and can carry somewhat heavier weights.
The long version enables the accompanying staff, sitting in the vehicle, to observe and operate it optimally at all times.
It can also be swivelled in the front area.
Both monitor arm versions are clicked onto the monitor arm base and can be rotated 360°.
In addition, the base with monitor arm can also be moved and locked in the longitudinal axis.
The monitor arm can be easily removed from the base at any time using the red release lever.

Looking at the Maastricht version of the “Heavystar” we can state that “Starmed” delivered once more a high quality product with the typical level of perfectionism.
On top of the standard ICU devices we asked for the opportunity to add extra medical devices as different ECMO systems or IABP to the trolley in a fast, reliable and safe way. Furthermore we needed the opportunity to use two different ventilator units.
